New Era signs equipment purchase deal with Dow Jones

March 2009.   Dow Jones requested bids from the satellite community for the purchase of all of their satellite communication equipment throughout the USA.

We were the successful bidder, and within six weeks removed all of the equipment from their seventeen USA based satellite stations.

The equipment was identical at each site, C-Band SSPAs, Up Converters, Down Converters, Frequency Counter, Spectrum Analyzer, Power meters and much more. Although they owned Harris 11 meter wheel and track antennas, very few were two degree compliant and suitable for transmission, but at a good cheap price these antennas will make excellent receive only stations.

The indoor 200 watt SSPAs were manufactured by either Locus or Paradise in a 1:1 configuration, L3 Up Converters and Down Converters were also setup in a redundancy mode. Every site also had good quality HP8595E spectrum analyzers, Agilent frequency counters and Boonton power meters. With the care that you would expect from a prestigious company such as Dow Jones, every component was carefully maintained, and multiple spares existed for everything.
